Cedar Fence Installation

Cedar is a favorite fence wood because it holds up well to moisture and insects, stays flatter than many woods and looks beautiful with a clear or tinted finish. It is a little more of an investment in lumber than pressure-treated pine, but many owners prefer the look and the way it ages, from rich reddish-gold to a soft silver gray if left natural.

We build cedar fences throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee, from tall privacy runs to decorative picket and shadowbox styles. We select straight boards, set strong posts, use stainless or coated fasteners that will not streak the wood and talk with you about finishing, because a good stain extends the life of cedar even more.

FAQ

Common questions about cedar fences

Does cedar need to be stained?

It does not have to be, and it will weather to a silver gray. Sealing or staining keeps the color and slows weathering.

Is cedar better than pressure-treated pine?

Cedar resists rot naturally and looks more refined. Treated pine is a sturdy and practical choice. We help you weigh the two.

Can posts be cedar too?

Posts below grade are usually treated lumber or steel for strength. We explain the options.
